The ECE 22.05 certification is a European approval of the minimum safety requirements of a motorcycle (or scooter) helmet. The certification is used in nearly 50 countries worldwide. In the USA they have their own certification; the DOT approval. DOT stands for Department of Transportation and it is run by the government.
